Melissa Rivera has performed with theatres and opera companies all over the country. Some include; Opera Lancaster, The Mountain Play, Lyric Opera San Diego, and was in the original cast of the world premiere of Moses at Sight and Sound Theatre. Favorite roles include; Wendla in Spring Awakening, Mimi in Rent, Logainne in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Angelina in Trial by Jury, Belinda in Dido & Aeneas, Mae Jones in Street Scene, and Rosita in Creede Repertory Theatre’s touring bilingual musical, Viva Agua. She participated in the LAByrinth Theater Company’s intensive ensemble in New York where she studied with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Stephen Adly Guirgis, among others. She holds an MM in Opera/Music Theater from Southern Illinois University, and a BA in Spanish and a Bachelor of Music from San Diego State University.
