Nathan Marken, an Illinois native and lyric baritone, has been active in the Bay Area music and theatre worlds since 2006, and returns to The Speakeasy having played Eugene and The Emcee/Eddie in the seminal 2014 production. Mr. Marken has enjoyed working with Boxcar Theatre since he donned the iconic head-wig in the ground-breaking 2013 production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Mr. Marken is the newest company member and co-managing partner of The Kinsey Sicks, America’s Favorite Dragapella® Beautyshop Quartet, having taken on the bass role of “Winnie” in 2014. With The Kinsey Sicks, he appears on three concert DVDs, their latest album, Eight is Enough, and currently tours the United States with their subversive acappella musical comedies, including the critically-acclaimed 25thanniversary show, Things you Shouldn’t Say. The Kinsey Sicks have appeared at the world’s largest Fringe Festivals in Edinburgh (Scotland) and Adelaide (Australia), Theatre J in Washington DC, the Oregon Contemporary Theatre (Eugene), Miami’s Broward Center for the Arts, and Off-Broadway’s SoHo Playhouse in New York City.
Notable Bay Area credits include: Devil Boys from Beyond (Mattie) and Xanadu(Thalia) at the New Conservatory Theatre Center, The Rocky Horror Show (Brad), Le Nozze di Figaro (Bartolo), and Insignificant Others (Andrew) at Pier 39. Mr. Marken has performed with Opera on Tap:SF, Goat Hall Productions, Parlor Opera, and has been a featured soloist with Soli Deo Gloria and the Mission Dolores Basilica Choir. He holds a Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is a graduate of the Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music.
