A fifth generation San Franciscian, James Coyne grew up playing upright bass, electric bass, and guitar in various rock and rockabilly bands around the Bay Area. Later on, he took up an interest in playing classical music and went on to receive a B.A. in music from Dominican University, a M.M. in double bass performance from the New England Conservatory, and a performance diploma in orchestral studies from the San Francisco Academy Orchestra. Now a freelance bassist in San Francisco, James has performed with groups such as the New World Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, San Francisco Academy Orchestra, the National Orchestral Institute, and has recorded prominent video game soundtracks with Boston-based Video Game Orchestra.
